Goethe Institut presented films, focusing on people and stories beyond the labels. The event was the 2nd edition of the intercultural seminar for journalists "Media Incubator", aimed at drawing attention to the way Roma minorities are represented in audiovisual media. A project I had worked on the year prior, creating a logo and key visuals.
The topic of the event is at the forefront through the use of the wheel, a symbol from the international flag of the ethnic Romani people. Another common Roma association is the use of abundant colors and patterns, one of which is an abstract world map, building depth behind the dates. In the remaining two-thirds of the composition, I drew eye-catching initials of the project title through the repeating patterns of the two icons - a clapperboard and a microphone, symbols of media tools. The screening's information acts as a divider and a focal point, transforming the whole poster into a film programme page.
