As part of a collaborative design initiative, I was tasked with developing a product design prototype in partnership with Polaris Lighting, a Varna-based company. The project explored the relationship between designers and manufacturers, focusing on communication, shared expertise, and the translation of ideas into tangible objects.
The initial concept draws from the amphora, an ancient vessel used for storage and transport, reinterpreted here as a metaphor for containing and transmitting light. This reference is closely connected to Varna itself, one of the oldest cities in Europe, where layers of history and material culture continue to inform contemporary contexts.
Further design decisions are informed by the way such objects are presented in museums, elevated, supported, and isolated to direct attention. This logic influenced both the form and the spatial presence of the object.
For the product sticker, I’ve drawn from ethnographic and archaeological documentation methods. It features the name Amphi within a system of black squares, referencing visual markers used for scale, positioning, and cataloging. Rather than functioning as a separate graphic element, the label becomes part of the object itself, extending its narrative through a coded surface that frames how it is observed, measured, and preserved.
